We have been to Mexico several times, and have done many road trips. However, we had not been to Puerto Morelos before, and on our last trip, our resort was not close to the airport, so we wanted to stay somewhere nearer to the airport the night before our early flight.

We decided Puerto Morelos would be a good option, since it was on the way, closer to the airport, and would give us a chance to check it out for a future trip.

We wanted somewhere inexpensive, since we were just spending the night there and not doing much otherwise. The rooms here are generally inexpensive, from $50-100 a night depending on your room size and beds. We needed a large bed plus two smaller beds for the kids, so we had one of their larger rooms.

Getting to Amar Inn is very easy, and we used Google Maps to get there in our rental car. From the main highway (307), we got on Calle Jose Maria Morelos, and a few turns later, we made it to Hotel Amar Inn.

This is Calle Jose Maria Morelos, complete with signs for crocodiles!

Hotel Amar Inn is on a side alley off the main road, so we parked on the main road until the owner checked us in, at which point we moved our car to right by the hotel. We felt that our car was safe while parked by the hotel.

This is the entrance from the side road.

The courtyard as you walk in is beautiful! I wasn’t expecting such a neat gem of a place.

Our room included a large bed downstairs, kitchenette, and two loft areas upstairs with smaller beds. It was also nice to have a seating area to relax in.

Getting upstairs was unique, and the kids thought this was fun!

Upstairs were the smaller beds. It was a little bit warm up here, but it cooled off after we ran the fans and AC for a bit.

The bathroom was nice and modern.

I didn’t get all of the kitchenette area (to the left) in this photo, but there were supplies to prepare and eat as needed.

Outside of the room in the courtyard, there are places to sit and relax.

There is even a small pool. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to take a dip, but it looked very inviting!

As far as location, this was very convenient to get to. We walked right to the beach and up to town here.

The walk along the beach was a nice chance to check out Puerto Morelos and see the famous leaning lighthouse.

The location is great, as you can walk to town and the main sights in Puerto Morelos. There is also a Chedraui in town, which is sort of like a Walmart, and you can find everything from sushi to snacks, clothing, and more.

Overall, this was a great hotel to stay at in Puerto Morelos, and close enough to the Cancun airport to catch our plane the next morning. The staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel was nice and clean, and it was in a great location.
